Horacio García Rosas

Statement

The work of Horacio García Rosas moves between abstract expressionism and lyrical abstraction. His work is offered to us as a vigorous struggle between a gesture that does not stop moving and a poetic air that does not require words to express itself.

In his paintings we see, instantly, that something moves vertiginously in them. We do not know for sure what things are moving, but we notice movement, a lot of movement. There are forms that move, intertwine, rush, rise, collapse. There are shapes and colors moving on the surface of the painting. Those colors, those shapes constitute an almost audible rhythm, that is to say, almost musical.

García Rosas's painting wants to apprehend the reality that surrounds us and to which we belong; but also that which he calls "my inner nature", that is to say, its psychic, perceptual, spiritual constitution: its depths, its meanders, its secret corridors, its ghosts, its uncertainty. It is necessary to contemplate these works with great attention to find the "open, sesame" that opens the entrance to them and thus glimpse what it wants to tell us.
